Do we exercise enough? Are our diets the best that they can be? Are we stressed? What is the state of our relationships? Only when we sit down and start to really analyse these factors of our lives do we have a chance to perhaps pinpoint a problem.

Physical exercise is a great place to start when making lifestyle changes that can enhance libido. For men, exercise not only helps improve cardiovascular capacity but also helps reduce body fat which has a roll on effect that helps increase circulation and therefore assists in bringing testosterone levels back to normal. For women physical exercise can be a great way for not only reducing fat but also increasing circulation that will have an overall effect on vitality. Another added bonus for both parties is the fact that physical exercise releases endorphins ( Dopamine the bodies feel good drug) into the blood stream, which are the same feel good drugs that are released during sexual activity.

Certain foods containing various vitamins and minerals can also influence libido. Specific foods have been used for thousands of years to enhance libido such as chocolate which was used by the Aztecs and honey which was used by the Romans. However, in today’s society the most widely regarded foods that can affect libido range from Avocados, Oysters, Almonds and Bananas each containing various vitamins and minerals that can help enhance libido.

Overall libido is something that can be influenced by a combination of sources; lifestyle choices, health initiatives and mood. There are natural supplements that can help enhance libido but in order to regain ones libido an honest approach to the problem is needed.
In order to keep our sex life’s vibrant and exciting, honestly and openness must be present in order to develop an understanding of each other’s needs and wants.

However what do we do when one side of the relationship is happy or satisfied with their sex life but the other half isn’t? This can be a very hard issue to bring to the forefront of a discussion due to the concern of hurting the others feelings and or egos. As stated by sex and relationship expert Gabrielle Morrissey “The reality is that if you're not being honest in your relationship, you're already hurting your partner, they just don't know it yet.” Is your sex life stuck in a rut? I have been looking forward to this long weekend all year but the only problem is I still can’t decide on what I am doing. After the weekend just been (consisting of 3 birthdays and a family reunion) I am not really up for being out and about and just want to relax. However my other half may have mixed feelings to sitting around watching sport all weekend. So the challenge now is to find something that both of us can do. Here are some of my ideas for this long weekend.
- Take advantage of my brothers free holiday home down the south coast. Beach every day, couple of glasses of wine with dinner.
- Dinner and drinks on Friday, movie Saturday night and potter around the city Sunday afternoon
- Same as above but catch up on some chores Sunday and Monday ( Bit daggy I know)

How are you spending your long weekend? Feel free to share your top tips for a relaxing weekend

• Look at indoor sports that keep you fit and active. This could include rock climbing, cricket and soccer. Team sports also present the opportunity to meet new people and make new friends.
• Joining a gym is another great option. With the vast amount of gyms around these days and each of them offering various facilities and classes, you can really find something that will suit what you’re looking for.
• Have a look at the various fitness videos that are out on the market. Three great workout videos that are presently out on the market are Zumba Fitness, P90X, and GSP RushFit
• Get yourself a training partner. A training partner is possibly the greatest way of keeping yourself motivated due to the commitment you make.
• Remember that summer is just around corner and the colder months are the perfect time to get your body back into shape.
With the hustle and bustle of modern day living the question must be asked what doesn’t cause stress. The simple task of ordering a coffee can be stressful enough for me haha. But in all seriousness here are some helpful tips from the Beyond Blue foundation for dealing with stress

Keep things balanced:
"Try to make sure you have a balance in your day between work and doing the things that you enjoy. This might mean learning to say ‘no’ more often so that you don’t take on new things that will add to your to-do list, or your stress levels".(Beyond Blue)

Exercising
Exercise has been widely regarded for many years as one of the best ways to reduce stress in one’s life. This is due to the body releasing endorphins (the bodies feel good drugs) into the blood stream during physical exertion. “Physical activity such as swimming, walking, yoga, cycling, dancing or going to the gym can help reduce the tension in your muscles and your mind.”

Taking time out
Constantly Obsessing over the causes of your stress can be highly counterproductive in reducing It. Distracting yourself can be one of the most effective ways of reducing your stress. This can consist of catching up with friends, listening to music, engaging in physical activity, anything that takes you out of your current head space and surroundings, and helps put your stress to the back of your mind.

In order for me to function in the morning I require two things, 1 Long black with 2 sugars and 15 minutes alone to read through the paper. This is the only time of the day which is truly mine and that I can get in the zone and prepare myself for the day ahead. Funny thing is a lot of the things I read in the morning will reverberate in my head the entire day (weird I know) .

Take this morning for instance I read an article about how important it is to have fatty fish in your diet. According to a study from the University of Los Angeles people who have a low intake of Fatty acids derived from fish have lower brain volumes, decreased visual memory, decreased ability to problem solve and a diminished ability to multi task ( clearly this is higher in men haha ).

So I’m now sitting down for lunch and all I can think about is how I should eat more fish, sad I know. Any ideas for some good recipes that include fish ?

Cheers,

With the mercury said to sky rocket this summer with record breaking temperatures I best make sure I slip, slop and slap. But with the amount of sunscreens out on the market I’m still a bit confused into what Sunscreen’s would work best for my daughter and me.

I brought up the topic at work to get some input into the different Sunscreens that people in my office use, and funnily enough one of the guys in my office actually used to work for one of Australia’s leading Sunscreen Companies.

He started explaining how sunscreens are categorised into two categories

- Absorbers , which soak up the suns UV rays before they reach the skin &

- Reflectors, which reflect the suns UV rays from the skin.

I had no idea!! I thought all sunscreens where the same. But as he said no matter what sunscreen I end up buying I have to make sure that it has a SPF + of over 30, is water resistant and that I keep re applying every 3 hours.

What sunscreens do you find work best for you?

The dress, the hat, the shoes always come up trumps but backing the right horse always seems to elude me. To be honest, win or lose, all I really care about is the fashion anyway. I do regularly take out 1st prize for the fancy hat parade at work – woo hoo! But with that being said a lot of the guys in my office are really starting to get into the spirit of things too, one of the guys even went as far as to donning on a jockey uniform.

Each year that my office watches The Melbourne Cup the event itself seems to get bigger and bigger, with this year’s festivities playing host to Russian Royalty, an international soccer star, Hollywood celebrities and local socialites. But why is it that Victoria is the only state to get a public holiday. I only think it’s fair that all states receive at least half a day public holiday or each state gets to host their own version of the big race. Just give me another day off!!

With the Australian dollar doing so well I am tempted on splurging and taking the family overseas. But with all the drama that’s playing out with Qantas and their constant striking, I’m worried that even if we do decide to go abroad the odds of being able to fly out on the decided date doesn’t look good.

I have done the usual North Coast and South Coast getaways but I want to go somewhere tropical so the kids can enjoy a range of different water activities and more importantly I can unwind by the pool sipping on a well deserved, tasty cocktail.

One of my girlfriends mentioned that she took her family to Hamilton Island last summer holidays, and that it was one of the best holidays she has ever been on. Not only were there plenty of activities for the entire family but Hamilton Island had a dedicated kids club, with holiday activities to keep the kids entertained the entire time they were there.

Can you truly experience a tropical holiday that rivals Fiji and Samoa here at home? If so are there any other Islands anybody could suggest?

Haven’t we learnt anything from celebrity weddings/ divorces?

To me a wedding should be more about celebrating with close family and friends in a comfortable and fun environment, the cost and grandeur should be the least of your concerns.

A couple who my husband and I are friends with are in the final stages of organising their wedding, which is costing them upwards of $50,000. When I heard how much they were spending I nearly fell off my chair. Not only are they having the whole horse drawn carriage and string quartet but they are inviting over 300 guests. I don’t even think I have 300 FaceBook friends ha-ha.

Every time we catch up she always has the funniest stories about her dates. One common element to all of these stories however is the lack of chivalry displayed by her dates.

Is chivalry really dead or has it just drifted away with the times?

I have always believed that chivalry is more to do with politeness and courtesy towards women and less to do with opening doors and pulling seats out (I can do that on my own thank you very much). When you think about it too much it can be quite corny.

As a relationship develops and the comfort levels between a couple grows those sweet gestures tend to fade away. I remember back to when my partner and I first started dating he would always walk closest to the road in order to protect me from any splashes from motorist driving past …... now he steals my pillows when I sleep!!

With the long weekend soon upon us I challenge all men to act more chivalrous and in fact, to all women I also challenge you to do something sweet for your man.

Goodbye to freezing cold mornings, au revoir to layering up as if I live in the arctic , and arrivederci to my morning ritual of de-icing my wind shield. So this spring I am going to make the most of it, with BBQ’s aplenty, fresh crisp salads and outdoor dining. So this weekend I am going to kick off the spring with a family BBQ . With my husband laying claim to BBQ duties I’m going to try this Mediterranean salad I found on taste.com.au.

Cooking Time

25 minutes

Ingredients (serves 4)

8 zucchini (about 12-15cm long)

2 1/2 tbs olive oil

125g Greek feta

2 tbs currants

1 clove garlic, finely chopped

2 tbs dried breadcrumbs

1 tbs finely chopped basil, plus extra small leaves, to serve

200g grape or cherry tomatoes

90g (about 6 slices) prosciutto, salami or leg ham

125g cherry bocconcini, torn in half

Toasted bread, to serve

Method

Preheat oven to 220°C. Trim 2mm from ends of zucchini then cut each into 4mm-thick slices, lengthways. Place in a bowl. Add 1 tbs oil and season to taste with salt and pepper. Toss. Heat a char-grill pan over high heat. Cook zucchini, in batches, for 1 1/2 minutes each side or until charred but not quite cooked through. Transfer to a roasting pan.

Crumble feta into a bowl. Add currants, garlic, breadcrumbs and chopped basil. Season to taste and toss well to combine.

Scatter tomatoes and feta mixture over zucchini. Tear prosciutto slices in half and strew over vegetables. Drizzle with remaining oil then roast for 15 minutes or until tomatoes have softened.

Scatter vegetable mixture with bocconcini and extra basil. Spoon into a bowl and serve with toasted bread.

As one of my girl friends puts it my body is in an uncaffinated state. It’s not until I get to the office and have that first cup of coffee am I truly up and away. I know I am not the only one! But apparently my two cups of takeaway coffee that have become a part of my daily routine are now costing me more than my annual electricity bill.

According to an article in today’s Body and Soul section of the Daily Telegraph my little luxury of enjoying a takeaway coffee in the morning and after lunch is on average costing me $800, and that’s not even taking into consideration the days I ask for a jumbo, Venti or extra large for that extra kick. Yikes!! So I am starting to way up my options of just splashing out and buying a decent espresso machine for my kitchen.

Can you really get that aromatic, full bodied coffee experience in the comfort of your own home?
