Haven’t we learnt anything from celebrity weddings/ divorces?

Tuesday, October 04, 2011

With our recent poll finding that the vast majority of our followers believing that big weddings are a thing of the past, why is it that the average cost of the Australian wedding is increasing?  I was doing my standard morning peruse through the paper and came across the article “ IBISWorld finds average cost of a wedding in Australia is greater than the cost of a Ford Falcon XR6 Limited Edition” with the article  going on to explain how the average cost of an Australian wedding is costing upwards of $36,000. Haven’t we learnt anything from celebrity weddings/ divorces?

To me a wedding should be more about celebrating with close family and friends in a comfortable and fun environment, the cost and grandeur should be the least of your concerns.

A couple who my husband and I are friends with are in the final stages of organising their wedding, which is costing them upwards of $50,000. When I heard how much they were spending I nearly fell off my chair. Not only are they having the whole horse drawn carriage and string quartet but they are inviting over 300 guests. I don’t even think I have 300 FaceBook friends ha-ha.

What makes the best weddings?
